Leicester City midfielder James Maddison insists that he is remaining unfazed by rumours about his future.
Maddison has impressed during his first season in the Premier League with the Foxes that have seen him score seven goals and provide seven assists in thirty six appearances.
The 22-year-old moved to Leicester last summer from Norwich City for a £22million fee (Sky Sports) and is now said to be valued at £60million with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal all reported to be tracking his progress (Sky Sports / Daily Mirror).
Maddison has seen his name crop up as a potential recruit at Spurs if Christian Eriksen departs the club this summer after revealing that he wishes to seek a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).
The playmaker was asked by Sky Sports about the rumoured £60m valuation and if talk over his future will prove to be a distraction during his involvement with the England Under-21 side at the Euros.
He revealed that he has been accustomed to speculation dating back to his time at Coventry as a 17-year-old when both Spurs and Liverpool were said to be interested.
He told Sky Sports: “No, you have just got to ignore that and take it all in your stride.
“As a 17 year-old boy I’d started five games for Coventry and saw on my phone that I was being linked with Tottenham and Liverpool.
“With transfer talk you need to take it as a compliment that people are even talking about you, it won’t distract me.”
Opinion
Maddison has had a good first season in the top flight, but a £60m valuation seems a bit rich for a player who is untested in European football and is yet to earn a full international cap. Giovani Lo Celso would be a preferred option, even at a slightly higher price.
