Christian Eriksen’s future at Tottenham remains unclear following statements to Danish media stating that he would like to “try something new.” (Ekstra Bladet).

However, with Real Madrid reportedly turning their interest to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba (Goal), the Danish maestro finds himself in limbo, unsure of what his next move in his career will be.

Eriksen’s future has been a vast talking point throughout the entire season, and it seems as if Spurs are preparing for the Dane’s departure, reportedly negotiating with a number of cubs for potential replacements.

Spurs have been linked with a variety of players, including Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Donny van de Beek, Bruno Fernandes, and Nicolo Zaniolo (Standard).

We will list the players that we think are viable options to replace Eriksen in order from 1-5, with 1 being the player Spurs should prioritise, and 5 being the least suited candidate to replace Christian Eriksen should he leave the club this summer.

1. Giovani Lo Celso

With 16 goals and six assists for the season, its clear to see why so many clubs have their eye on Giovani Lo Celso.

The 23-year-old Argentine international has been a prominent player in Real Betis’ squad this season, spending 75% of the season as part of the starting eleven and playing 74% of the total season minutes.

Lo Celso was loaned out by Paris Saint-Germain to Betis for the season until Betis activated his buyout clause.

Lo Celso has been involved in 31% of Real Betis’ goals for the 2018/19 season, striking at 34.78%, equating to 16 goals in 46 appearances.

Christian Eriksen’s ten goals in 51 games leaves him at 19.60%.

However, when considering only La Liga and Premier League statistics, disregarding any other competitions, Lo Celso and Eriksen’s percentages lie at 28.1% and 22.8% respectively.

Both Christian Eriksen and Giovani Lo Celso are statistically very similar. Christian Eriksen does however have the advantage in terms of assists (17), compared to Lo Celso’s six across all competitions in 2018/19.

With Real Betis willing to sell Lo Celso for just over $60 million, Daniel Levy must open his chequebook and sign this player.

Lo Celso revealed that he would be interested in working with his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino, and the Argentine connection could provide Lo Celso an excellent opportunity to settle into Premier League football much easier.

Transfer probability: Likely
