Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of creative players of late, ever since the future of current chief playmaker, Christian Eriksen, has been up in the air.
Eriksen has under one year remaining on his current Spurs contract, meaning that Tottenham will have to either convince him to sign a new deal, sell him in January for a profit, or lose him on a free in the summer of 2020.
Tottenham did bring in Giovani Lo Celso in the summer, but the Argentine typically plays a little deeper that Eriksen who can act as the linchpin between midfield and up front.
One other Premier League player who does this extremely well, despite only playing one season at the top for Leicester, is young James Maddison.
The England and Foxes player has now revealed that back when he was 16-years-old and playing for Coventry City, he heard rumours that he may be joining Spurs.
However, when he checked with his agent, there was no such transfer on the cards, which was a bit of a wake-up call for him.
How much would you give to see Maddison at the club now, Spurs fans?
He told the Telegraph: “I once came in from a training season and someone had texted me that they’d seen in The Coventry Telegraph that Maddison was going to Tottenham.
“I texted my agent and said, ‘Am I? Am I going to Tottenham?’ I wasn’t. From then I knew: you just focus on football.”
