According to 90 min, Tottenham Hotspur believe that they would be Conor Gallagher’s top choice if the midfielder leaves Chelsea in January.

The report states that Spurs are closely monitoring Gallagher’s contract talks with Chelsea after their failed attempts to sign him during the summer transfer window.

It is said that while the Blues are eager to tie the player down to a new contract, talks have not progressed significantly at the moment.

Should Gallagher not put pen to paper on a deal before January, it is suggested that the West London club would be open to selling him since he is only contracted to the club until 2025.

Tottenham fancy their chances in Gallagher race

90 min explain that Chelsea were ready to sell the England international for £50m in the summer, with Spurs, Brighton and West Ham United thought to have expressed an interest.

The publication adds that while Thomas Tuchel is also keen on reuniting with Gallagher at Bayern Munich, Tottenham believe that the midfielder’s preference would be to join them if he were to leave Stamford Bridge.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Gallagher does not sign a new contract before January, there is no doubt in my mind that Tottenham will test the waters with an offer, particularly now that Hojbjerg looks quite likely to leave.

However, my suspicion is that the 23-year-old will sign a new deal at Chelsea within the next couple of months, given that he seems to have won Mauricio Pochettino’s trust.
