In what comes as a blow to Tottenham in their rumoured pursuit of Conor Gallagher, Football Insider have now revealed that the midfielder is ‘more than happy’ to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher has established himself as a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield this season, having started every single one of Chelsea’s eight Premier League matches so far (Transfermarkt).

However, some reports over the last couple of weeks have continued to indicate that the Blues hierarchy are open to cashing in on the 23-year-old amidst Tottenham’s interest (The Athletic).

A few days ago, we relayed a report from 90 min which said Spurs believe they would be the England international’s preferred destination in January if he does not sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Conor Gallagher now ready to put pen to paper

However, if Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, the midfielder is now ready to commit his future to his boyhood club.

The report explains that Gallagher, who is contracted to the West London club until 2025, was initially concerned about a potential lack of game time after the arrivals of Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Lesley Ugochukwu in the summer.

However, now that Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear that he is a ‘big part’ of his plans, the former Crystal Palace loanee is willing to sign a new deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gallagher was always going to be a difficult one to pull off and I felt that Spurs had to get it done in the summer if they were going to do it.

Unfortunately, Hojbjerg’s move to Atletico fell through in the summer, which meant that Tottenham put off a move for the Chelsea star, and he now appears to have become a mainstay in Pochettino’s starting eleven.
