The English transfer window may be closed, but it seems Tottenham Hotspur could still strike a deal to sell Davinson Sanchez this week. A new report claims Galatasaray are trying to sign the defender for €15m (£12.8m) before the registration deadline for the Champions League.
Despite a fairly successful summer transfer window for Tottenham, particularly when it comes to signing players, there is still work to be done. More specifically, the Lilywhites’ squad still contains a number of fringe players who need offloading.
It has long been suggested that Davinson Sanchez was not wanted by new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. The general belief was that Sanchez would move on before the end of the transfer window (Express).
The Colombian defender has been linked with multiple clubs over the last few months, including PSV Eindhoven (Voetbal International), Villarreal (Relevo), Galatasaray (Sporx), and Spartak Moscow (Sport Express).
Galatasaray racing to sign Davinson Sanchez
The Turkish transfer window is still open until September 15, which means Galatasaray still have a chance of acquiring the 27-year-old. However, they need to get a deal done today if they are to register Sanchez for the Champions League.
A report from the Evening Standard details the prospective move and claims the Turkish giants are “close” to securing a permanent transfer worth “just shy of €15m (£12.8m)” for Sanchez.
Galatasaray are also looking to sign Sanchez’s Spurs teammate, Tanguy Ndombele, on loan. It is believed the Turkish side are “rushing to wrap up the moves” for both players today, ahead of the 11 pm deadline for Champions League registration.

This is really encouraging news, and hopefully this strict deadline will force the moves through quickly. It still leaves us needing to replace the two players, but getting them out of our squad is the priority at this point.
Hopefully, once they are gone, we can look to move on Hugo Lloris, too, and then the outgoings this summer will have been fairly successful.
