Alasdair Gold has said that the Tottenham hierarchy, as well as members of the Spurs squad, are excited about the prospect of James Maddison joining the club.
Spurs do not have a recognised attacking midfielder in the squad (barring the players who were loaned out last season such as Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso), and it has been well-documented that a number eight is crucial to Ange Postecoglou’s system.
It now appears as if Tottenham are on the verge of snapping up one of the best in that position across the Premier League over the last few years.
Fabrizio Romano has given the deal his ‘here we go’ stamp, while Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that the England international is expected to have his medical at Hotspur Way today before sealing the switch.
The 26-year-old is set to arrive in North London on the back of scoring 10 goals and registering nine assists in 30 appearances for a relegated Foxes side last season, and Gold has said that there is a lot of excitement at Tottenham over what he will add to the side.
Maddison is already a popular boy at Hotspur Way
The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “What I keep being told is that everyone at the club loves him. Postecoglou, Levy, Paratici, Gabbanini, a lot of the players would love to see him there as well.”

There are not really too many other better options we could have got for as not only is Maddison proven in the Premier League and suited to Postecoglou’s style of play but he is also homegrown.
Getting him for around £40m would represent a fantastic piece of business and something that Levy and the Spurs hierarchy deserve credit for.
