Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks is closing in on a permanent transfer to Leicester City, according to the Evening Standard.
The report claims that the deal to take Winks to the King Power Stadium is completely separate from the £40million move which will see James Maddison leave the Foxes to move to north London.
Winks has just one year left on his Tottenham deal and is one of the players that will be allowed to leave the club as part of Ange Postecoglou’s summer rebuild of the squad which finished outside of the European qualification places last season following a disappointing eighth place finish.

The England international was deemed surplus to requirements by former head coach Antonio Conte and was sent out on loan during the 2022-23 campaign to Italian side Sampdoria, where he made 20 appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt).
It was another frustrating campaign for the midfielder after Winks was forced to undergo ankle surgery in November which plagued his early months in Italy but became a regular in the Sampdoria squad afterward as they failed to avoid relegation.
Leicester are looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt under new boss Enzo Maresca, who is said to be a fan of the 27-year-old’s ability and believes his versatility could prove useful (The Telegraph).
Winks, who came through academy setup and has made 203 appearances for the club in all competitions (transfermarkt).

It is sad to see that Winks was unable to push on from his early form that made him a regular in the side under Mauricio Pochettino, with arguably his best game coming in a Champions League match at Real Madrid.
Ankle issues and an apparent lack of confidence which crept into his game saw him become a player who decided instead to look to pass the ball sideways or backwards, rather than looking to drive forward as he did early on. Hopefully, he can now get his career back on track in the Championship.
