The Daily Mail have revealed that Newcastle United are now back on the trail of Tottenham target Harvey Barnes, who is expected to leave Leicester City this summer.
Spurs beat Newcastle to the signature of one of Leicester’s prized assets in James Maddison last week and it now turns out that the two clubs could once again go head-to-head for the services of another Foxes star.
Journalist Sami Mokbel said on the Last Word on Spurs last week that West Ham United could have the edge over Spurs in the race for Barnes since the Hammers could offer the winger regular game time.
Competition intensifies for Harvey Barnes
If The Mail’s latest update is to be believed apart from the two London clubs, Aston Villa have also enquired about the Leicester star’s availability.
The report adds that the Magpies are now also looking to sign a wide player who can cut in from the left and have thus reignited their efforts to snap up the 25-year-old.
The publication adds that Enzo Maresca’s men are optimistic that they can earn around £35m from Barnes’ sale this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
£35m is decent value for a proven Premier League performer who is homegrown and has two years left on his contract.
However, the 25-year-old can only play on the left and I suspect Postecolgou would prefer to sign a more versatile option such as Solomon who can play on either flank.
