Tottenham finally managed to sign a back up to Harry Kane during the summer transfer window in the form of Carlos Vinicius.

The Brazilian arrived from Benfica on a season-long loan deal, with Tottenham having the option of making it permanent at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a decent start to life in North London and managed to get off the mark with a brace against Ludogorets yesterday.

Despite Vinicius’ displays, Tottenham continue to be linked with several strikers around Europe, with the January transfer window just a little over a month away.

Spurs have been backed to make an offer for Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik, while Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud is also said to be on the club’s radar.

Calcio Mercato now report that Spurs are also continuing to track Metz striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, who they were linked with earlier in the year.

The Frenchman has started the season in prolific fashion, having netted ten goals in eight appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt.com).

The report claims that Tottenham and Napoli could be competing for the 23-year-old’s signature when the transfer window reopens.
