The Times have revealed that Tottenham target Jadon Sancho was sent on an individualised training programme by Manchester United in the middle of the season to overcome his ‘physical and mental issues’.
Sancho has flattered to deceive since his £73m move to Manchester United two years ago, with the pacy wide-man having scored just 12 goals and provided six assists in 79 appearances for the Red Devils (Transfermarkt).
We relayed a report from The Daily Star on June 10, which suggested that Tottenham were ready to test the waters with a £50m offer for the England international.
The report claimed that Erik Ten Hag’s men could consider cashing in on the former Borussia Dortmund man this summer if they receive a bid of around £60m.
Tottenham interest in Jadon Sancho confirmed
The Times have now also backed up Spurs’ interest in Sancho and added that it is ‘not inconceivable’ that Man Utd would let the player go this summer.
The publication also explains the wide-man’s struggles at Old Trafford, revealing that the club had to design an individualised training programme away from the team in the middle of the season to help him overcome his physical and mental problems.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt about Sancho’s ability and it is important to remember that he is still only 23 years of age.
While Postecoglou might fancy his chances of bringing the best out of the England star, perhaps question marks about his mentality will put off the Tottenham hierarchy from pursuing the player.
