CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could consider a move for Jadon Sancho, who Manchester United could sell for the right price this summer.
Sancho has failed to live up to expectations since his £73m move to Man Utd from Borussia Dortmund two years ago.
The winger was in and out of Erik Ten Hag’s starting eleven through the 2022-23 season, finishing the campaign with seven goals and three assists in 41 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham’s interest in Sancho first came to light earlier this month when The Daily Star (June 10) suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s men were ready to test the waters with an offer for the player.
Spurs are not alone in their admiration for England international, with Football Transfers reporting a couple of days later that Aston Villa are also monitoring the winger’s situation closely.
Jadon Sancho would come with a big price tag
Jacobs has now said that Sancho is indeed on Spurs’ radar but he asserted that the Red Devils could demand around £60m for the 23-year-old this summer.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Sancho is not at the top of the list for Manchester United outgoings. But that’s not to say that, for the right price, they wouldn’t consider it.
“I think that right price is in excess of £50 million, and maybe even closer to £60 million, so that’s a consideration from Tottenham’s point of view.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are in need of a wide player this summer and Sancho would fit the bill perfectly as he is young, homegrown and has the energy and the attacking intent to thrive in Postecoglou’s system.
However, the winger would very much be a luxury signing and arguably one that Spurs cannot afford to make until their address the priority positions such as centre-back and midfield first.
