Tottenham Hotspur have taken their interest in Jadon Sancho one step further according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who claims the North London club have made an enquiry to Manchester United about the player’s availability.

Sancho was once one of the hottest emerging talents in world football and caught the eye of top European clubs during his time with Borussia Dortmund.

The winger signed for Manchester United two years ago in a deal thought to be worth around £73m (BBC) but has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League thus far.

With Sancho struggling to hold down a regular slot in Erik ten Hag’s first team, Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old this summer (Daily Star).

It is believed Aston Villa are also keen on Sancho (Football Transfers).

Ben Jacobs previously told GiveMeSport that United would be willing to sell the player for around £60m. However, the Daily Star more recently revealed Sancho could be sold for as little as £45m.

Tottenham have enquired about Jadon Sancho

Now, the journalist has a new update on the Sancho situation, revealing that Tottenham have spoken to the Red Devils to discuss the availability of the England international.

Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “With Jadon Sancho, Tottenham have enquired.

“I’m not aware that they’ve advanced anything beyond that at this point.

“They’ve also got good other business done now, quite early in the window, including James Maddison.”

The details of Manchester United’s response to the enquiry are unclear at this time.

Spurs Web Opinion

Jadon Sancho has not quite performed how anyone expected since his arrival in England, but he has certainly shown glimpses of the immense talent he has.

I can’t see us signing him this summer, but I would definitely like to see him playing for Spurs one day.
