Alasdair Gold has said on his YouTube Channel (starting at 5.25) that he was surprised to hear that Oliver Skipp is part of the player committee that Daniel Levy met with before making the decision to part ways with Cristian Stellini.
Levy himself addressed the fans on Monday, terming the team’s performance at St James’ Park as ‘unacceptable’ and ‘devastating’.
The Spurs chairman accepted responsibility for the current state of affairs and confirmed that Stellini has departed along with the rest of Antonio Conte’s coaching staff, with Ryan Mason set to take the reins until the end of the season.
Levy also mentioned in the message that he spoke to the ‘player committee’ before arriving at the decision, adding that the squad are determined to finish the season strongly.
The Guardian subsequently revealed that the player committee consists of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Gold has now confirmed that the committee consist of four senior figures mentioned above but also has another surprising member – Skipp.
The journalist revealed that while he is not sure if the 22-year-old had a conversation with Levy regarding the Stellini situation, the Spurs academy graduate is seemingly a part of the aforementioned committee.
Gold suggested that Skipp’s inclusion could be down to the club wanting to give young players a voice.

In order to gauge the opinion of the entire squad, it is important to have divergent viewpoints as the club would not want a situation where the senior players can gang up on a certain head coach or a manager. That is probably why Skipp’s views are also consulted.
