Oliver Skipp has claimed that Ryan Mason has already made some good changes to Tottenham’s tactical set-up and helped restore some belief into the squad.
Although Spurs only have a point to show from Mason’s first two games in charge, the Lilywhites showed tremendous character to fight back from a significant deficit in both matches.
There has certainly been a notable difference in the team’s attacking play, although the defensive issues have continued to plague the side.
Mason admitted ahead of the trip to Anfield that it was important to employ a system that is suited to the characteristics of the squad and remarked that he has not had a lot of time on the training ground to make sweeping changes (Football.London).
The 31-year-old will now have a full week to work with the squad before the team take to the field against Crystal Palace, and Skipp believes that the former Tottenham midfielder has already changed some crucial tactical details.
The 22-year-old told The Independent: “Ryan has been brilliant in just reinforcing and trying to get belief back into the players.
“He has been brilliant in terms of small details he has changed.
“Obviously, he hasn’t had as long as he’d want (in training) but there are things that helped everyone.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Even though the results might have not been ideal, there have definitely been some positive signs in both matches so far.
I would not be surprised if we see Mason shifting to a back four against Palace, now that he has a full week to work with the team on the training ground.
