Mauricio Pochettino has praised a “professional” performance from his players as they warmed up for our Champions League clash with Juventus by beating Huddersfield 2-0 on Saturday.
Sonny was in inspired form Ava JB scoring a brace for the second time in a week as we eased to a comfortable victory at Wembley.
We now turn our attention to facing Juventus on Wednesday in the second leg of their last-16 clash with the score level at 2-2.
Today’s win over Huddersfield was Mauricio’s 100th in the Premier League, and he said: “In your mind it’s too difficult to keep away the idea that Wednesday you are going to play a massive game, but we were so professional. The performance was so good, we keep going and try to be ready for Wednesday.
He added: “Our approach will be the same as the first leg in Turin. You need to feel free and happy and enjoy the game.Of course, like every game we are going to work and decide on our strategy, but in the end it’s a football game and we are going to enjoy it. That is so important, it’s an amazing competition. It’s the Champions League and we’ve been fighting in the last few years to be there and play this type of games.”
Son’s performance should help him stake his claim for a starting role against Juventus, having returned to the side after missing out last weekend.Son is doing a fantastic job,”:said Pochettino. “Being consistent and scoring goals and I am so pleased because he scored two goals and helped the team to get the three points.
Pochettino added: “I think Son is one of the players from who you always expect amazing things. He’s a talented player, consistent, very professional and of course when a player like him or Harry [Kane], they work a lot and that work pays back.
He added: “The team deserved it overall. When you analyse the game the team fully deserved the three points. It was very tough, they were difficult to break down. It’s always difficult in the Premier League, all the games are tough, but we dominated and deserved the victory.”
