Apparently, James Maddison celebrated England’s win over Italy earlier this week with a lavish night out, and even took the opportunity to raise a glass to his Spurs teammate Destiny Udogie, who made his first start for the Azzurri in the game.

James Maddison has settled into life at Tottenham fantastically since his move from Leicester this summer. The playmaker has racked up five assists already (Transfermarkt), and has also been named one of the club’s vice-captains under Ange Postecoglou.

Likewise, Destiny Udogie has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season. Signed last summer, the youngster spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Udinese, but has flourished since joining up with the Spurs first team this year.

The pair came up against one another on international duty this week, with Maddison part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and Udogie making the most of his first call-up to the Italian senior squad.

England won the game 3-1 and have now secured qualification for Euro 2024, with two goals from former Tottenham man, Harry Kane, sealing the three points.

Raise a glass to Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie

England players decided to hit the town and celebrate after the game, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jack Grealish joining Maddison in London’s high-profile bars according to a piece in the Daily Mail.

Described as a “fun night,” the England players ran up an impressive bar tab before heading back to a fancy hotel for some rest.

Of note, is one moment where Maddison and Grealish joined forces and “toasted” Udogie, and later “chanting the youngster’s name” in recognition of his step up to the international stage.

What players get up to in their own time is entirely their business and I’m glad the England lads had some fun after the win. Toasting Udogie is a nice touch, too.
