Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Tottenham are set to enter talks with Juventus over a possible discount on Dejan Kulusevski‘s transfer to North London (via SportWitness 15/05/23).
Kulusevski is currently on loan from the Serie A side, and there were a number of clauses inserted in the 18-month deal, including an option and an obligation to buy.
Had Tottenham achieved a top-four finish this season, thus earning Champions League football, they would have been obligated to purchase Kulusevski for £30.4m (Fabrizio Romano).
However, with Spurs falling short of that mark, the obligation becomes an option to buy. It appears that Daniel Levy wants to see if he can negotiate a discount before he commits to that price.
The report from Gazzetta even states that Spurs may find this plan to be a successful one, with there not being a huge amount of competition to match the £30.4m price tag.
Spurs Web Opinion:
£30.4m is a steal for a player like Kulusevski, even if he has had an off season. If Tottenham manage to negotiate the price down even further, it could be one of the best pieces of business they have done in recent years.
