According to Calciomercato, the competition for Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, is heating up ahead of the summer transfer window.
Fabio Paratici reportedly wanted to take Svanberg to Juventus in the past and the Tottenham managing director is said to have also tried to bring the midfielder to North London in January (Inews).
The 23-year-old’s current deal at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara runs out in 2023 (Transfermarkt) and it was reported by Sport (28/03/22 edition – via TEAMtalk) that Spurs are set to reignite their pursuit of the Swede when the transfer window reopens.
The midfielder insisted last week that he is not thinking about leaving Bologna in the summer and is focused on continuing to perform for the club (Expressen).
However, Calcio Mercato have now suggested that Svanberg could indeed be on his way out of the Serie A club due to his contract situation.
The report claims that the midfielder is being followed by AC Milan, as well as both West Ham and Everton.
Spurs Web Opinion
Paratici and Conte will know well of Svanberg’s qualities, given their expertise in Italian football. Spurs could be on the lookout for a relatively low-cost replacement for Harry Winks in the summer, and the Bologna star seemingly fits the bill.
