According to The Sun, Napoli have now stepped up their pursuit of Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey, who is also reported to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Hickey has earned rave reviews since leaving Hearts to join Bologna in the summer of 2020, with the 19-year-old establishing himself as a regular in the Serie A club’s starting eleven this season.
90 min reported last month that the Scot’s versatility makes him a sought after player across the continent, naming Spurs as one of the sides to have expressed interest in the teenager.
Brentford and Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in the Bologna star (Sky Sports).
If The Sun’s latest update is to be believed, it is Napoli who have made the first move for Hickey, with club president Aurelio de Laurentiis said to have informed Bologna about the club’s desire to strike a deal for the youngster.
The report claims the Serie A club are in talks with over an £18m deal for the Scotland international.
Juventus and AC Milan are also alleged to be tracking Hickey’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Spurs Web Opinion
Conte and Paratici will certainly be well aware of Hickey’s attributes, given their expertise in Italian football. However, Spurs have not been as heavily linked with the 19-year-old as some other clubs, which leads me to think that he is not really a priority target for us this summer.
