Tottenham are facing competition from Atletico Madrid for the signiture of Humberto Suazo.
Suazo has already signalled his desire to move to Europe, having helped Monterrey to the Mexican title.
Spurs have been reported to be close to tying up a deal for Suazo as Roma Pavlyuchenko looks to be on his way.
Monterrey president, Jorge Udiales has already slapped a £17.8million price-tag on the Chilean striker and Atletico Madrid have recently expressed an interest in order to revive their flagging season.
Urdiales said, “I am very proud that it is being said that Atletico Madrid is interested in a player of our team, but at the moment there isn’t anything formal.
“We are going to sit down and have conversation when we receive an offer for Suazo, but it’s 20million Euros that have to be paid for him, because he is still under contract with us and we are not going to sell him for less money.
“At the moment the player is travelling to his homeland to have a very deserved holiday next to all his family, so for the moment we are not going to disturb him by telling him about the negotiations.”
