Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid ahead of a potential move to the Spanish capital, The Times have now revealed.
Multiple outlets have indicated over the last month that Spurs are open to cashing in on Hojbjerg, with Atletico said to be leading the race for the midfielder’s signature.
The latest such update came from The Daily Mail, who claimed last week that the Dane is not seen as a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play and that there had been ‘positive developments’ in the negotiations between the Premier League side and the La Liga club over the midfielder.
In fact, the outlet even suggested that the expectation at the North London club is that the 27-year-old will seal a move to the Spanish capital over the ‘coming weeks’.
Personal terms agreed between Hojbjerg and Atletico
If The Times’ latest update is to be believed, Hojbjerg’s transfer to Atletico has now moved a step closer.
The publication states that the former Southampton man, who has two years left on his current deal at Spurs, has now agreed personal terms with the Colchoneros ahead of completing a switch to the Metropolitan Stadium.
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that Postecoglou named Hojbjerg in his starting eleven for the clash against Leicester City (before the game was called off due to water logging on the pitch) was quite interesting.
Perhaps that indicates that the Spurs head coach is coming around to the idea that the Dane can be a useful number six in his system.
