According to the print edition of Mundo Deportivo (24/07 as relayed by Sport Witness), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is hoping that Tottenham reduce their asking price for him so that he can complete a switch to Atletico Madrid.
The speculation linking Hojbejrg with a move away from Tottenham has been steadily intensifying over the last month.
The Daily Mail claimed last week that there had been ‘positive developments’ in the negotiations between Spurs and Atletico Madrid for the midfielder.
The outlet asserted that the expectation at the North London club is that the 27-year-old will seal a move to the Spanish capital over the ‘coming weeks’.
The Times subsequently reported on Sunday that the former Saints star has already agreed personal terms with Atletico ahead of a potential switch to the club.
Hojbjerg hoping Spurs relax their demands
Mundo Deportivo have now claimed that the Tottenham man is ‘enormously seduced’ by the possibility of signing for the Colchoneros this summer.
The report states that Hojbjerg has made it known to his agent that he would like to seal a switch to the Metropolitan Stadium before the campaign starts.
The player is now said to be hoping that Spurs reduce their demands while the outlet also asserts that Atletico hope to use the midfielder’s desire to join them to their advantage during negotiations.
Spurs Web Opinion
With Hojbjerg keen on the move and with Spurs seemingly open to the sale, one would expect this transfer to go through before the window closes.
However, I would be surprised if Tottenham accept anything less than £35m from Atletico for the midfielder.
