Tottenham Hotspur are continuing talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential exit for Pierre-Emile Hobjerg, according to The Independent’s ‘Reading the Game‘ newsletter.
The midfielder is said to want the opportunity to move to the La Liga side, who will once again be playing Champions League football next season. Atletico boss Diego Simeone is reported to have informed the club’s recruitment staff that he wants the Dane to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new campaign (Daily Mail).

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is said to have a use for the 27-year-old within his squad, but ideally wants a player who is able to distribute the ball quicker and can cover larger areas of the pitch with their mobility.
Talks between both clubs need to see a compromised reached on their respective valuations of the former Southampton captain, who is also attracting interest from German clubs.
Hojbjerg joined Tottenham as one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings as head coach and has made 145 first team appearances across all competitions in his three seasons with the North Londoners.

Hojbjerg is sometimes a target of Tottenham fans over his style of play last season under Antonio Conte, however, he does have more to his game at both ends of the pitch compared to Oliver Skipp, who is still very much a work in progress
Whether Tottenham would be prepared to sanction the sale of an experienced player in Hojbjerg while Rodrigo Bentancur remains out of action until around November as he continues his recovery from knee surgery remains to be seen.
