Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains a target for Atletico Madrid during the current transfer window.
The La Liga side are keen on a deal for the Dane this summer and are prepared to pay Tottenham up to £30million to secure his signature as part of Diego Simeone’s new-look midfield ahead of the upcoming campaign, according to 90min.
Hojbjerg arrived in North London in the summer of 2020 as one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings in a deal worth around £15million on a five-year deal from Southampton (Sky Sports).
Spurs could lower asking price for Hojbjerg/Atletico deal
Tottenham were hopeful of securing a higher fee of around £40million for the player, who turns 28 later this week, however, there has been limited interest in his services from elsewhere in order to drive the price upwards.
Spurs will not stand in Hojbjerg’s way if they are able to secure the right deal and are prepared to lower their valuation in order to make a move happen.
The Times reported late last month that Atletico Madrid have had a £16million bid rejected for Hojbjerg, however, there was confidence that a deal would be reached before the window closes.

A deal in the region of £30million would be a solid piece of business for Tottenham if they are able to replace the Danish international with Barcelona’s Frank Kessie who has been linked with a move to the Premier League outfit.
