Not far behind Jim, as followed since 66, and can’t disagree too much with his list or logic, but with only seeing Greaves’s latter years I’d have to go for Hoddle as no 1, who was just sublime. Perryman for Son (who’s been driving me mad this season but surely must improve).

If only Jimmy and Harry could have played together in the current climate, not only would Spurs have the greatest domestic front line England would have the greatest international front line too.

Come on Harry, do it against the Gooners, and I’m sure Jimmy will be watching from up there.

Agree with Matt. He may be the best Spurs player of his generation but not the best of all time. Hoddle was sublime & Jennings, arguably the best goalkeeper we’ve ever had, was commanding between the sticks. There again if you’ve been watching Tottenham since the 1890s, who am I to argue with you

I wouldn’t put him in the top twenty, because his diving lets him down. A great player in my opinion would value sportsmanship and Kane has no integrity regarding this.

Kane is also not a naturally gifted player like Hoddle, Greaves, Berbatov and Gascoigne.

I don’t think Kane is that skillful compared to other strikers we have had like Keane and Berbatov. He also lacks pace.

A great player Harry, no doubt, who will deservedly eclipse Jimmy Greaves’s all-time Spurs goal scoring mark, but the greatest ever Spurs player? No, not in my book. He would be in my top 5, but not at #1.

It’s also difficult to name some players, without defining the exact criteria for qualification to the list. For example, do you only count the period the player was at Spurs, or do you count the player’s whole career?

How much does the longevity of the player’s career factor into the equation. Stevie Perryman vs Jurgen Klinsmann for example. I’ve been watching Spurs since ’63, so I’ve got a pretty good time frame for reference.

My top 10 Spurs players since ’63. – 1) Greaves; 2) Hoddle; 3) Bale; 4) Kane; 5) Mackay; 6) Jennings; 7) Gascoigne; 8) Chivers; 9) Son; 10) Klinsmann: – Some players owe their positions on the list to world class talent, more than longevity, e.g. Bale, Gascoigne, Klinsmann, all the rest have both.
