Tottenham Hotspur have tabled a £50million offer to Leicester City to take both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes from the relegated side, according to the Daily Mail.

The Foxes were unable to avoid the drop to the Championship on the final day of the Premier League season and are now set to sell the highly-rated pair.

The report claims that Leicester are unlikely to accept Tottenham’s bid with the King Power Stadium outfit having previously valued each player at around £60million each.

Leicester are set to cash in on Maddison, who has one year remaining on his deal, together with Barnes to begin a squad overhaul as they plot an instant return to the top flight.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Newcastle United are currently leading the race for Maddison, who is currently on international duty with England with the Magpies having had an interest in the midfielder since January when they failed with a bid in the winter transfer window.

Tottenham bid for Maddison and Barnes

A joint bid of £50million has been submitted by Tottenham who are looking to get the ball rolling with their summer transfer activity under new manager Ange Postecoglou after he was appointed as Antonio Conte’s successor.

Barnes has also been the subject of reports linking him with Newcastle with the 25-year-old said to be keen on the move to St James Park (Football Insider).

Tottenham need to be very careful with lowball offers to Leicester for either player considering that Newcastle United’s wealth is far superior to that of ENIC’s and the Magpies can also offer Champions League football.
