According to the print edition of Tuttosport (25/06/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are ‘in the front row’ to sign Gleison Bremer from Juventus this summer.
Earlier this month, we relayed a report from CalcioMercato which claimed that Juventus might decide to cash in on Bremer this summer, just 12 months on from signing him from Torino, as they need to raise funds to balance their books.
The publication stated that Tottenham and Atletico Madrid had already reached out to the Brazilian’s representatives regarding a potential summer transfer.
This was followed up by a report in The Telegraph a couple of days ago which claimed that Spurs and some other Premier League clubs are waiting to see if the 26-year-old is put up for sale.
Tottenham are leading the race for Gleison Bremer
TuttoSport have now suggested that Tottenham are at the front of the queue to snap up Bremer, given their issues in central defence.
The report explains that with several of the North London club’s central defenders likely to be offloaded, they want to give Ange Postecoglou ‘quality replacements’, which is why they are going after ‘young but ready’ players in that position.
It is alleged that Bremer is on Spurs’ wishlist, alongside the likes of Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Wolfburg’s Micky van de Ven and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
TuttoSport add that Juventus are ‘waiting for the right offer’ to consider selling the former Torino star.
Spurs Web Opinion
I suspect Bremer is likely to be fairway down Tottenham’s wishlist as the likes of Guehi, Van de Ven, Taposoba and Adarabioyo seem like better fits for Postecoglou.
In addition, the Brazilian is also likely to cost more than the four aforementioned names, given that Juve paid €50m (£42.8m) for him last summer and he has gone on to have a solid first season at the Allianz Stadium.
