Martin Braithwaite expects his Denmark teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to surprise a lot of people at the World Cup.
Hojbjerg was someone who split opinion among the Tottenham fan base until this summer but the midfielder has surely won the majority of the Spurs faithful over with his displays this season.
The Dane has arguably been one of Spurs’ most consistent performers this campaign, along with Harry Kane and his midfield partner Rodrigo Bentancur.
The former Southampton man has also been a vital cog in Denmark’s midfield over the last few years and will have to be at his best if the Danes are to progress deep into the tournament.
Hojbjerg was one of the standout players for Kasper Hjulmand’s side in the last European Championship as the Scandinavian nation made it all the way until the semi-finals, and Braithwaite expects the Spurs star to shine again in Qatar.
The forward told Espanyol’s official channel (as relayed by InsideFutbol): “Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will surprise [many].”
Spurs Web Opinion
Hojbjerg has been one of Denmark’s most important players over the last three or four years and, in many ways, he makes Hjulmand’s men tick. The Danes are huge favourites to qualify for the knockout stages but they may come up against Argentina in the round of 16, given how the groups are structured.
