According to a report from CalcioMercato (as relayed by TEAMtalk), Newcastle United are plotting a move for Juventus defender Radu Dragusin who has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Dragusin has found playing time hard to come by at Juve, having made just four appearances for the senior side this season.
SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longari reported in January that Tottenham were one of the clubs who enquired about the 19-year-old’s availability.
Some reports suggested that Juve were keen to hold on to the centre-back despite Spurs conducting ‘much more than a survey’ on his availability.
CalcioMercato now claim that the Serie A giants have not been able to agree on a new contract with Dragusin, with the youngster’s current deal at the Allianz Arena set to run out at the end of the season.
The report reveals that the Romanian Under-21 international is looking for reassurances from the club that he would have an important part to play before signing a contract.
It is said that Newcastle will look to sign the centre-back on a free transfer should he not pen a new deal with Juve.
The Magpies could face competition from RB Leipzig and Atalanta but the report does not make any mention of Tottenham’s interest.

Central defence will obviously be a priority position for Mourinho to address in the summer and while Dragusin is certainly a promising prospect for the future, what we need are experienced campaigners.
We already have two young talented defenders in Tanganga and Rodon while Malachi Fagan-Walcott also has the potential to break into the first-team over the next couple of years.
