Ben Jacobs has claimed that Strasbourg could potentially make a late move to sign Djed Spence before the transfer window shuts, among other suitors.
Last week, we relayed a report from Football League World which claimed that Tottenham wish to loan out Spence and are looking for the right destination for the England Under-21 international.
The report named Southampton as one of the clubs interested and it was alleged that the Saints fit the profile that Spurs are looking for since they are expected to play a possession-heavy brand of football under new boss Russell Martin.
However, the outlet added that Crystal Palace are also eyeing a temporary deal for Spence and that the right-back believes that he is ready for Premier League football.
Spurs want a permanent sale for Djed Spence
Jacobs has now said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast (starting at 41:32) that Tottenham prefer to offload the former Middlesbrough man permanently but there have only been loan requests for the player so far this summer.
The journalist asserted that Spence might have to drop down back to the Championship, naming Swansea, Bristol City and Leeds United as clubs who have made enquiries about temporary moves for the player.
Jacobs also added that a few Ligue 1 clubs are eyeing the right-back following his spell at Rennes last season, with Strasbourg alleged to have held internal discussions about the defender.

Even if Postecoglou does not see Spence as part of his plans, it might make sense to loan the 23-year-old out over selling him permanently. He has a long contract at Tottenham and his value could appreciate significantly if he has a decent season out on loan.
