According to AS reporter Javi Miguel, Xavi Hernandez continues to insist that Barcelona should sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham.
Miguel states that Xavi wants a right-back and an attacking midfielder to come through the door before the transfer window closes, with the Barca boss alleged to have identified Lo Celso as one of his two top targets for the latter along with Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.
In fact, the journalist adds that the Catalan side’s head coach would only accept the arrival of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid if one of Lo Celso or Silva are signed first.
Napoli and Barcelona both keen on Lo Celso
This report comes just a day after the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claimed that Napoli’s negotiations with Tottenham over a deal for Lo Celso are already ‘well advanced’.
The Italian outlet stated that talks between the two clubs over the Argentine were temporarily suspended as Daniel Levy was focused on Harry Kane’s sale to Bayern Munich.
With the Kane transfers out of the way, it was suggested that the Premier League side could resume negotiations with the Serie A club over Lo Celso.
Spurs Web Opinion
While it is understandable why Lo Celso is generating plenty of interest, I do not see Postecoglou sanctioning the Argentine’s sale for the time being.
However, if Tottenham were to bring one of Brennan Johnson or Eberechi Eze through the door, the 27-year-old could perhaps be offloaded late in the window.
