Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Clement Lenglet does not want to move to Saudi Arabia despite Al-Nassr’s keen interest in his services.
The Athletic reported on Monday that Lenglet was close to completing a move to Al-Nassr, who had shown a keen interest in the Frenchman for quite a while.
The report added that the 28-year-old now ‘appears likely’ to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo and co at the Riyadh-based club.
This claim was also subsequently backed up by Sport, who claimed that Barcelona’s talks with Tottenham had ‘broken down’ as the player edges closer to Al-Nassr.
Lenglet does not want Saudi move amid Spurs links
However, if Mundo Deportivo’s latest update is to be believed, despite Barca’s desire to sell Lenglet to Al-Nassr, the centre-back does not want to move to Saudi Arabia.
It is alleged that the Catalan club’s hierarchy met on Tuesday to try and resolve the defender’s future but the player made it clear that he prioritises remaining in Europe.
The publication adds that the ‘operation is still on’ according to Barca, who have to finalise Lenglet’s departure before they can bring other players through the door.
Spurs Web Opinion
It sounds like Barca are now working on convincing Lenglet to accept a move to the Saudi Pro League. Tottenham appear happy to wait and watch how this unfolds, with the France international evidently not viewed as a priority signing by the North London side.
