AS journalist Javi Miguel has revealed that Xavi Hernandez has asked Barcelona to make ‘one last try’ to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Lo Celso impressed for Spurs during pre-season but has not had any minutes for the Lilywhites in their two games against Brentford and Manchester United so far.

Earlier this week, Estadio Deportivo claimed that the Argentine is not happy at being overlooked by Ange Postecoglou but sources have informed The Spurs Web that this is simply not true.

The midfielder might have a key role against Bournemouth on Saturday, with there being a question mark over James Maddison’s fitness ahead of the trip to the Vitality Stadium (Football Daily).

Xavi has not given up hope on Giovani Lo Celso

Miguel has now said that Xavi continues to hope that Lo Celso will arrive at Camp Nou before the transfer window slams shut.

He explains that the Barca manager is set to ask the Catalan club’s hierarchy to make one final attempt to sign the 27-year-old following the injury sustained by Pedri.

The journalist asserts that Tottenham’s interest in Clement Lenglet could be ‘the key’ to the operation to take Lo Celso to Blaugrana.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Barca would only be able to afford a loan deal for Lo Celso and I see no reason why Tottenham would be willing to sanction another temporary move for the Argentine. It also does not appear as if Ange Postecoglou is overly keen on landing Lenglet.
