Feyenoord’s technical director Frank Arnesen has suggested that Tottenham winger Steven Bergiwjn would prove too expensive for the Eredivisie club.
Despite Antonio Conte continuing to maintain that Bergwijn is part of his plans, reports indicate that Spurs are looking to cash in on the winger this month (Fabrizio Romano).
De Telegraaf report that Ajax have expressed an interest in bringing the winger back to the Eredivisie.
The Dutch club’s opening £15m offer for the Spurs man has allegedly been turned down by the North London club (De Telegraaf) but Erik Ten Hag’s side are thought to be readying a second offer worth around £20m for the Netherlands international (Ekrem Konur).
In addition, 90 Min report that Newcastle United are interested in the Tottenham wide man.
However, Arnesen, who previously served as sporting director at Spurs for a brief spell, has admitted that Feyenoord will not be competing with their rivals Ajax for Bergwijn’s signature this month.
He told Voetbal International: “(Ajax) are looking (for players) a few levels higher. Those who think of Steven Bergwijn… Unfeasible for us, but we are happy with Walemark.”
Spurs Web Opinion
One would think Ajax would not be bidding for Bergwijn if they had not received encouragement for Spurs. So, it does appear like the 24-year-old is for sale. However, I would be extremely surprised if Tottenham let the winger go without bringing in another attacker this month.
