In what comes a major blow to Tottenham Hotspur, Arne Slot has now revealed that he wants to remain at Feyenoord next season.

It was reported by Dutch outlet 1908.nl last evening that following the meeting between Slot’s agent and the Feyenoord hierarchy on Wednesday, the chances of the 44-year-old staying at De Kuip for one more season had increased.

The publication stated that after some tough negotiations, the two parties might agree on a compromise as Slot is keen to avoid a legal battle if the club decide against releasing him.

However, this claim was contradicted by Football Insider, who claimed yesterday that Feyenoord are now increasingly resigned to the prospect of losing Slot to Tottenham.

The report asserted that talks between Spurs and the former AZ Alkmaar coach are now progressing well.

However, Slot himself has now poured cold water over those assertions, expressing his intention to continue building on work at Rotterdam.

The 44-year-old has now said (via Dan Kilpatrick): “I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other club’s interest in me. Although I am thankful my wish is to stay at Feyenoord and continue working on what we created last year.”

“There is not – and there has not been – transfer conversation and yesterday’s meeting was exclusively for an extension. All talks with the club have always been only in that sense. Looking forward to next season with Feyenoord.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This comes as a major blow to Tottenham, who are now seemingly back to square one in the race for a new head coach.

Unfortunately, these developments are very similar to what happened back in 2021 when we eventually ended up taking a long time to make an underwhelming appointment in Nuno.
