The Daily Mirror have revealed that Tottenham scouts were present in Rotterdam for the KNVB Cup semi-final clash last week to run the rule over Feyenoord duo, Orkun Kokcu and Santiago Gimenez.
Both Kokcu and Gimenez are driving Feyenoord towards the Eredivisie title this season, with the former having been a mainstay in the middle of the park for Arne Slot’s side all campaign.
The Mirror explain that the Turkish international is already being eyed by Benfica, who are said to be lining up a £31m offer for him this summer.
However, he is now thought to have emerged as a target for several Premier League clubs, with Spurs, Manchester United, Brighton, Leicester, West Ham and Brentford sending scouts to the Netherlands to watch him in action last action.
The report explains that the aforementioned clubs were also keeping an eye on Gimenez, who has been prolific in front of goal for the Dutch side this season.
The Mexican forward found the back of the net in the semifinal to take his tally up to 23 goals in all competitions in 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).
Spurs Web Opinion
Arne Slot is thought to rank high on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Conte, and there is no doubt that appointing the Dutchman will give the North London club a huge advantage over the other suitors in the race for Kokcu and Gimenez.
In fact, Slot himself might insist on bringing one or both with him if he is to get the job. However, as things stand, the 44-year-old certainly does not appear to be the favourite for the role.
