90 min have revealed that Tottenham’s scouts were in Amsterdam over the weekend to take a closer look at Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
Gimenez has been prolific since establishing himself in Feyenoord’s starting eleven and delivered another fine showing against Ajax, scoring twice and adding an assist to take his tally to 19 goals in 25 Eredivisie games this calendar year.
However, the 22-year-old did not get an opportunity to complete his hat trick as the game was suspended around the hour mark after crowd unrest at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Tottenham were among scouts looking at Gimenez
90 min claim that scouts from Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea were all in attendance and were left impressed by Gimenez’s display.
The report explains that the Lilywgites had their eye on the Mexican international during the summer while West Ham United failed with a move for him during the previous transfer window.
Gimenez is also said to be attracting interest from across the continent, with the likes of Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Juventus, Milan and Napoli thought to be keeping a close eye on him.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am always sceptical about signing attacking talent from the Eredivisie as they are seldom able to have a similar output in the Premier League. For every one Luis Suarez, there are several ones like Vincent Janssen, Afonso Alves and Cody Gakpo who struggle to make the transition.
