Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Tottenham hold a keen interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba while Arsenal are having second thoughts about making a move for the centre-back.

Tapsoba has been one of the pillars of the Leverkusen backline over the last couple of years and the 24-year-old was one of the Bundesliga club’s most consistent performers across 2022-23, making 47 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The Burkina Faso international’s displays have allegedly caught the attention of Premier League sides, including Tottenham and Arsenal.

In fact, it was Fabrizio Romano who first reported last month that the two North London sides were interested in Tapsoba, stating that they had both sent scouts to Germany to watch the player in action.

Tottenham are still keeping an eye on Tapsoba

The journalist has now offered an update on the centre-back’s future, revealing that Arsenal are reluctant to make a move for him since they find him ‘too expensive’ while the Lilywhites continue to hold a ‘strong’ interest in the defender.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Tapsoba is a player always appreciated by Arsenal but not a priority this summer because I’m told he’s too expensive.

“Keep an eye on Tottenham for Tapsoba because he’s one of the players they’re following since a long time. Both Arsenal and Tottenham sent their scouts to follow Tapsoba.”

On his Here We Go Podcast, Romano added (15:30): “Tapsoba is one of the centre-backs they are following. They keep following Tapsoba. He is one of the names we have to keep an eye on this summer.”

Tapsoba is dominant in duals, reads the game well and handles possession well under pressure.

So, one can see why Tottenham would view the 24-year-old as someone who can thrive under Ange Postecoglou.

However, with the Leverkusen star having three years left on his contract, he is unlikely to come cheap.
