Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their attempt to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs have been heavily linked with Tapsoba over a number of weeks, along with Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, however, a deal has failed to be reached for either of the two Bundesliga defenders.
Head coach Ange Postecogou admitted during a recent press conference while the North Londoners were on pre-season tour in Perth that reinforcing the central defensive ranks has been a priority and is looking to do it as quickly as possible.
He told the Daily Mail: “That’s definitely our intention, absolutely,’ said Postecoglou. ‘We’ve been working on it for a while and we’ll definitely try to get it done as quickly as possible.”
Spurs remain in talks for Edmond Tapsoba
Romano took to Twitter to provide an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of the Burkina Faso international: “Understand Tottenham are still in talks for Edmond Tapsoba. Deal remains not easy but Spurs are still actively working on that one.
“Club focused on Kane story but also on incomings and Tapsoba remains on top of the list.”

Spurs have already brought in Guglielmo Vicaro, James Maddison and Manor Solomon while also completing permanent deals for Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro.

A left-sided central defender has to be the priority and with Tottenham about to complete their Asia-Pacific Tour after Wednesday’s game against Lion City Sailors, time is certainly ticking to give a new recruit time to settle in ahead of the new season.
Ben Davies has been asked to play on the left side during the West Ham game and was set to start there for the postponed fixture against Leicester, we cannot go into the new campaign with the greatest respect to the Welshman as our first choice in the position.
While a steady squad player, his lack of pace was capitalised on by Brentford late last season which proved to be costly in a defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
