According to a new report on the outgoings at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, it is suggested Ange Postecoglou is keen to keep hold of youngster Dane Scarlett rather than sending him on loan this season.
A product of the Tottenham academy, Dane Scarlett is one of the brightest young talents at the club right now and many expect the striker to be a success at the top level in his career.
Scarlett has been around the Spurs first team for a couple of years now, and has made ten appearances for the senior side. He hasn’t scored in a competitive game for the Lilywhites yet, but does have an assist to his name (Transfermarkt).
The talented forward spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Portsmouth in League One, racking up 40 appearances, with six goals and two assists (Transfermarkt).
Despite a promising start to his time with Pompey, a change of manager midway through the season hampered Scarlett’s progress somewhat.
Is Dane Scarlett ready for the first team?
Scarlett recovered from injury during pre-season and managed to score a goal in the 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month. Now, it seems the player may well find himself in Ange Postecoglou‘s plans for the new season.
That’s according to a report from the Evening Standard, which suggests Scarlett is “set to remain as part” of the Australian manager’s squad as things stand.
It is thought Postecoglou wants to keep the 19-year-old around until new signing Alejo Veliz “adjusts” to life in London.
Apparently, fellow Spurs youngster, Alfie Devine, will leave the club this summer for a loan spell elsewhere.

It would be good to see Dane Scarlett get more opportunities in the first team and it would do his development a world of good to be involved more at that level.
The key is to make sure that he gets enough game time with us to ensure staying at the club is the best option for his progress.
