The Athletic have revealed in their live transfer blog that Dane Scarlett has signed a contract extension with Spurs before finalising a loan move to Ipswich Town.
Scarlett, who spent last season on loan at League One side Portsmouth, came on as a half-time substitute in the Carabao Cup second-round clash against Fulham on Tuesday.
Dane Scarlett heading to Ipswich Town on loan
It now turns out that the Spurs academy graduate will be spending the 2023-24 season in the Championship, with The Athletic revealing that he is set to move to Portman Road Stadium on a season-long loan.
The report adds that the teenager, who is contracted to Tottenham until 2026, also agreed a one-year extension to his deal before making the move to Ipswich.
The same information regarding a contract extension was also confirmed by PA Sport journalist George Sessions, who added that Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, who previously coached Tottenham’s Under-18s, is a big fan of Scarlett.
Spurs Web Opinion
This is a very good move for Scarlett as he will get to work with a coach who knows him well. With Tottenham not being in Europe and now eliminated from the Carabao Cup, the 19-year-old was not going to get any game time if he had stayed at Spurs.
