Tottenham Hotspur forward Troy Parrott is expected to be out of action until after the World Cup due to injury.
The 20-year-old was named on the bench for Preston’s match at Norwich City in the Championship on Saturday and was brought in in the 46th minute by manager Ryan Lowe.
With the score level at 2-2 with ten minutes left to play, Parrott’s shot beat Tim Krul at his near post to secure a much-needed win for the lilywhites and net his first Championship goal for the club.
Parrott’s left-footed effort resulted in the striker go to ground clutching the back of his leg and was substituted after receiving medical treatment.
Preston have provided an update on Parrott ahead of their trip to Bristol City tomorrow evening with Lowe admitting that he will be without the services of the Republic of Ireland international for the foreseeable future.
He told the official Preston site: “He’s had his scans and whatnot. It’s not as bad as we first thought, but we’re obviously in dialogue with Tottenham Hotspur as well now because he’s their player, so Jacko [Matt Jackson] is on with them.
“I think the World Cup’s come at a good time for Troy because he will miss a large part, but the fact of the matter is we’ve got that break.
“We won’t have him for the foreseeable future, but after the World Cup when we’re back in action, hopefully he’s back fit and ready, so it’ll give us enough time not to rush.
“I’m gutted for Troy because obviously he just scored his first Championship goal as well. Although he’s been out the team, he’s been fantastic.
“He’s alright, he’s in good spirits now. He’s got over it, and we’ve just got to make sure he’s alright for the next time he’s available.”

It is a cruel blow for Parrott to be sidelined at this stage having just scored his first league goal for the club, if Ireland had qualified for the World Cup it would have been worse for the forward who will now be looking to get back to fitness at the earliest opportunity.
