In their weekly update on the on-loan Tottenham players, Football.London have relayed what Preston boss Ryan Lowe has said about Troy Parrott’s recovery.
With Serie A and La Liga yet to get underway following the winter break, the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Destiny Udogie have not been in competitive action over recent weeks while Harry Winks continues to recover from his ankle surgery.
Another man who is rehabilitating is Parrott and Lowe has now revealed that the Spurs academy graduate could feature in Preston’s FA Cup tie against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
He told Irish Mirror: “Troy is back on the grass now and continuing his rehab and we are putting finishing sessions on. He is doing fantastically well. He has got a date in mind and I wish his date was the same as mine because if it was he would be playing.
“We have got to be governed by Tottenham as well because he is their player. He is due to be assessed by them in the coming days and if they give him the green light then he can push on. Hopefully, we will get him back soon. It will definitely be in January.
“We are hoping for the Huddersfield game and if it is not Huddersfield then it will be the Norwich game. So that is a couple of weeks off. He is chomping at the bit now but we have to make sure that we do things right by him.”
Meanwhile, Dane Scarlett missed out on Portsmouth’s Boxing Day clash away at Exeter City through illness but the striker did get 17 minutes off the bench in their 2-2 draw at home to Ipswich Town on Friday.
However, the teenager had an outing to forget on New Year’s Day against Charlton as he was taken off at half-time, with Pompey falling to a 3-1 loss at Fratton Park.
Meanwhile, Joe Rodon has been an unused substitute in both of Rennes’ fixtures against Reims and Nice since Ligue 1’s restart.

The news regarding Parrott is extremely positive, with the World Cup break seemingly coming at the perfect time for the 20-year-old. Meanwhile, Rodon’s loan spell at Rennes now looks likely to be cut short this month as the centre-back would not want to spend the second half of the campaign warming the bench.
