In their weekly loan update, Football.London have revealed that Harry Winks finally made his first start of the season and completed 90 minutes in Sampdoria’s clash against Udinese over the weekend.
After getting his first minutes of the season as a substitute against Empoli last week, Winks was given the nod to start at home against Udinese and the Tottenham man would have been pleased to come away from the game unscathed despite his side falling to a 1-0 loss.
Destiny Udogie was one of the starters for the visitors in that match, and Football.London revealed that the left wing-back had two shots, created two chances, had a pass completion rate of 86%, won nine of his duels and made two successful dribbles.
After putting in an impressive display on his return to the starting eleven against Paris Saint-Germain, Joe Rodon kept his place in the side for Rennes’ visit to Marseille but it proved to be a disappointing afternoon for Bruno Genesio’s men, who fell to a 1-0 defeat.
Meanwhile, Tanguy Ndombele had to settle for just five minutes as a substitute as Napoli came away with a win away at Salernitana, a result which saw Luciano Spaletti’s men maintain their 12-point lead at the top of the Serie A.
After recovering from his hamstring injury, Troy Parrott got some minutes off the bench in Preston’s loss to Norwich City and their 2-1 win over Birmingham City but the striker will not be able to feature on Saturday with Ryan Lowe’s men taking on his parent club in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, minutes seem to have dried up for Dane Scarlett, with the teenager being an unused substitute in new manager John Mousinho’s first two league games in charge against Exeter City and Fleetwood Town.
Finally, Football.London also revealed that Giovani Lo Celso has made a huge stride towards returning from his hamstring injury, with the midfielder taking to the training pitch on Tuesday for the first time since his injury.
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that Winks played all 90 minutes and came through unscathed is fantastic news, with his ankle operation seemingly having the desired effect. The 26-year-old will look to prove a point over the coming months, thus potentially putting himself in the shop window ahead of the summer.
