Antonio Conte has thrown a major hinting in his first training session as he lined Tottenham Hotspur up in a 3-5-2 formation, according to Football Insider.

Tottenham confirmed Conte as their new head coach on Tuesday, with the Italian meeting the players for the first time and observing a training session.

According to reports, the 52-year-old is expected to take charge of the team for their Europa Conference League clash against Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday, with his work visa set to be sorted out before the match.

Football Insider have now revealed what they heard from a club source about what went on in Hotspur Way during Conte’s first training session ahead of the clash against Vitesse.

The former Chelsea boss allegedly had a look at the players by arranging an 11 vs 11 match yesterday.

It is stated that both the teams were set up in a 3-5-2 formation in what could be a major hint as to the set-up Conte is going to deploy at Spurs.

The report further added that the buzzword for the opening training session on Tuesday was “energy”.

Senior players and the youngsters are thought to be hugely enthused by Conte’s arrival and were said to be “loving” working under the new Spurs boss.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe a 3-5-2 does suit the characteristics of our squad, with the likes of Davies and Tanganga being able to slot in at LCB and RCB respectively, and Romero (and even Dier in the past under Pochettino) proving quite effective while playing in a back three.

Having two upfront will also suit Kane and Son well and might be able to get the best out of them. However, the likes of Bergwijn, Lucas and Gil could struggle to force themselves into the side unless Conte decides to convert them to wing-backs as he has done with the likes of Victor Moses in the past.
