Manchester City legend Yaya Toure is working with the Tottenham Hotspur academy for his coaching badges this week, The Evening Standard have revealed.
Toure is considered one of the Premier League’s modern greats, having won three league titles during his time at the Etihad.
Since retiring from the game in 2020, he has spent time working towards his badges with QPR, Blackburn and the Welsh FA.
The former Barcelona man recently served as an assistant coach at Ukrainian side Olimpik Donetsk and Russian club Akhmat Grozny.
The 38-year-old, who lives with his family in Hampstead, was said to be keen to find a nearby club to continue working towards his UEFA A-Licence, and he has now landed a role with the Spurs academy.
Toure is set to spend a couple of days a week at Hotspur Way after having his induction day at Tottenham’s training base on Wednesday.
It is revealed that the former City star will be working with academy manager Dean Rastrick and head of youth coaching Chris Powell but he will not have any direct involvement with Antonio Conte’s first team.
However, the report states that Toure is open to a more formal role with Spurs if the opportunity arises.

Even though Toure is a novice as a coach, having a man of his pedigree and knowledge can only be good for the players coming through the ranks at the Tottenham academy. The experience he can share could potentially prove invaluable for those youngsters.
