Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed that Tottenham could wrap up a deal for Argentine sensation Alejo Veliz in the next few hours.
Veliz has emerged as one of the best young strikers in the Argentine top flight, with the 19-year-old having found the back of the net 11 times in 23 appearances so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham’s interest in the forward first came to light on Wednesday when TYC Sports’ Cesar Luis Melo reported that Spurs have made a ‘formal offer’ to sign the player.
The journalist added that Rosario are hoping to hang on to the striker until the end of the year even if a deal is agreed.
Fabrizio Romano subsequently claimed this morning that while Tottenham have held ‘concrete negotiations’ with Rosario Central for the Argentine striker, there is no agreement between the parties as of yet.
He stated that a final decision is expected to be made about Veliz’s future over the coming days.
Alejo Veliz deal could be agreed in the next hours
However, Romano’s claim has now been contradicted by Moretto, who has taken to social media to suggest that the deal to take the teenager to Tottenham could be finalised today.
The Spanish reporter asserted that the negotiations between Spurs and Rosaria Central for Valiz are ‘very advanced’ and may ‘close’ in the ‘next few hours’.
Tottenham-Véliz.

Veliz would undoubtedly be a significant coup for Tottenham, given how highly he is thought of in Argentina but the striker is likely going to need time to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and develop into a complete striker.
Postecoglou probably views the youngster as one for the future rather than as a potential readymade replacement for Harry Kane.
