Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro, who is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he wants to stay put at the La Liga club.
The goalkeeping situation at Tottenham has been making the headlines over recent weeks, with Hugo Lloris’ current contract running out at the end of the season.
While it was reported before Antonio Conte’s appointment that it was only a matter of time before the club offered Lloris a new deal, things have seemingly changed since the Italian’s arrival.
90 min claimed last week that Conte wants Tottenham to bring in Ajax’s Andra Onana as the 52-year-old wants a goalkeeper who is good with the ball at his feet.
The Independent suggested recently that Remiro is another option on Spurs’ radar, along with the likes of Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Napoli’s Alex Meret.
However, Remiro has now admitted that he is happy to stay put at the Reale Arena as long as Sociedad want to hang on to him.
When asked about the speculation over his future, the 26-year-old told Noticias de Gipuzkoa: “I already said a while ago, the intention of both parties is I remain here as long as possible. I want to stay at La Real until the club (doesn’t) want me.
“And if something suddenly happens that doesn’t go along these lines, we will manage it all together, because I don’t want to generate any kind of problem.
“I am extremely grateful for everything I have experienced here to date – for the treatment, for each of the seasons, for the support, for the training.
“When I decided to leave Athletic (Bilbao), I didn’t do it looking to win games or to be the undisputed starter.
“What I was looking for was closeness, the people, the city. And today I can say I have found all that.”

I personally hope that Lloris does sign a contract extension as there is no doubt that he is still one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League. However, I would not be surprised if Conte decided that he wants a different style of goalkeeper with better distribution.
