Atlantico have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs to have ‘confirmed’ an interest in Celta Vigo sensation Gabri Veiga.

Veiga has had a breakthrough season at Celta, having managed nine goals and four assists in 26 La Liga games so far.

The attacking midfielder’s displays have allegedly caught the attention of quite a few clubs, with Atlantico claiming that Tottenham are one of the clubs to knock on the door regarding a deal for the youngster.

The report states that Spurs are just one of five Premier League sides to express an interest in Veiga and that the Lilywhites could also face competition from AC Milan and Napoli for the player.

It is explained that Celta are aware that they cannot match the salary that some of the aforementioned clubs can offer the midfielder, which would make it difficult for them to hang on to the Spaniard.

However, the La Liga club reportedly do not have any intention of negotiating a price, which means that Spurs and the other interested clubs would have to meet Veiga’s €40m (£35.3m) release clause to sign him.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Tottenham need a creative midfielder this summer, which is why it is not surprising to see the recent links to the likes of James Maddison, Diachi Kamada and now Veiga.

The decision on which player to pursue will likely not be made until the club appoints a new head coach.
